A roof in central Valencia and one off Hasley Canyon Rd can be the same age and shingle and fail on different timelines. The difference is wind. Everything coming down the Grapevine hits Castaic Junction first, so we re-set ridge caps and re-nail the first courses on north-facing slopes constantly. On the 90s comp tracts near Live Oak that's a repair. On Williams Ranch tile it's cracked field tile and slipped underlayment.
Permits here go through LA County Public Works, same as Val Verde — unincorporated county. We also do barns and shops up Romero Canyon.

Nearly all of Castaic is mapped Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, and with the Tick and Sand fire footprints this close, insurers ask about roof class. We'll tell you what's up there before you call your carrier.
Wind took shingles off — repair or claim?
Depends how far it spread. A dozen tabs and a run of ridge is a straight repair. If gusts opened whole slopes or drove water into the deck, we'll photograph it for the claim.
